I was looking at some benchmarks on THG, and the AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (Newcastle) S754 is a beast. I realize it's S754, but it's only $219 on zipzoomfly and beats the crap out of the highly popular AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Winchester) S939 for $190. For only $29 more, I'd say the 3400+ is a pretty darn good deal. After seeing how it performs, I'm considering getting one myself.

What do you guys think is the most underrated CPU?

Socket 754 isn't bad, but it has no future. I have a Socket 754 Athlon 64 3200+, and I am happy with it now, however, if I wanted to up it to 3800+ or whatever i couldn't.

Was the 939 3200 with dual channel ram?

It's got to be the semprons (don't laugh) as they are so cheap, and surprisingly good, (well not great, but still good.)

What are the spec's of the TF server? I know it has 1.5gb of ram and now the 2.6ghz celeron.

The S939 is cheaper, supports dual channel and you can OC them quite well, so thats its appeal to many;)

Isnt AMD gonna stop making S754 in the near future? there isnt a whole loy of point to buying a S754 nowadays when u can get a S939.

S754 has no future, so even if they do out perform some of the newer S939's, they are not worth buying now...
