I am planning on water cooling my new computer and I have all of my compontents decided on except for the pump.
Below are the options I am thinking about:

AquaXtreme 50Z-DC12
http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...oduct_Code=AQX-50Z-DC12&Category_Code=DC-Pump

Or:

Hydor L30 320GPH Pump - 110/120V
http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...roduct_Code=HydorL30-SC&Category_Code=AC-Pump
with
Pump Relay Switch Kit
http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...PROD&Product_Code=PRSK&Category_Code=Electric

Would it be better to stick with 12v or would I see an improvement in the 120V pump.
All comments are welcome and any other options as well.
Thanks in advance

12 volt pumps are much better for so many reasons, the main one is basically the fact that you don't have to seperately switch it on, it turns on when you hit your computer power switch.

This basically means you won't accidently forget to switch on your pump and overheating your components.

Personally, out of your choices, I would pick the 50oz as the other one has pretty low flow from what I'm reading. I personally prefer this pump to any other though.

I'm curious as to what configuration you're looking at, if you don't mind. :)

Out of those 3 I'd suggest the 50z....it's not about the GPH or even necessarily the voltage. What you gotta look at is the head, which means how high the pump could push water straight into the air assuming there is no restriction in the flow like a water block. At 0GPH that hydor pump only has 7 feet of head which is pathetic. The 50z has I believe around 11 feet of head at 0GPH.

All in all I'd go with 50z or the D4 pump also known as Swiftech MCP650. A lot of people at xtreme says the 50z is better and quieter, but I Have a friend with the D4 and a couple people have had problems with the 50z dying quickly, but of course I suppose you can have troubles with no matter what you buy.

Either way I'd say either 50z or D4....I just ordered a D4 for myself last night :D

Thas right gaara you heard it! :p Got the TDX + D4 combo at dangerden, they had it for a special price as a combo deal.

Got a brass top conversion for the TDX and the accelerator nozzles set which after buying those makes the combo only like $10 cheaper than buying the TDX with brass top and nozzle set and D4 pump seperate, but hey, $10 is $10 :D

Won't be for another couple of weeks that I can get the rest of the stuff though, weaponcore and MAZE4

yea, the abit nfs-7 is a GREAT pump ;)

No such thing as an ABit Nfs-7 diablo :p

lol gaara, I didn't even click on that link, but it leads to the NF7-S2 motherboard at tiger direct hehe

Whoops, I was doing a prokect for school last night while I was replying to this and links got all crossed up I guess.

Excellent Nubius, specials are always very tempting, but I always reach the conclusion that I'd be better to just wait then save a few bucks and have something lieing around as eye candy.

Wha? How do you come to that conclusion, might as well get it while you can save money even if you can't install it for a couple of weeks :D

I just talked to weapon and he said the painted shroud and core combo would be $88.50 and it's be $79 for the unpainted core and shroud combo........don't know if I can quite squeez that in yet though. I owe my mom $40 and I'm going to a concert tonight soooo I might be depleted by like $15 under the $88 price tag lol.

Thanx guys that is the pump that i was thinking of getting but i didn't kno if gph was better or a larger head sizes was better but now i know:D
This is the setup that i think i am going to go with:

Radiator
Black Ice Xtreme III Triple 120mm PC Radiator w/ Customizable Barbed Fittings - Black
http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...3_Custombarbs-BLK&Category_Code=R-Triple120mm

Reservior
Double Floppy Bay-Rez Dual 3.5" Bay Reservoir - Clear
http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...ct_Code=Floppy-BayRez-Clear&Category_Code=Res

CPU block
White Water Aluminum Topped CPU water-block w/ Universal Socket Mounting Adapter (All CPU Sockets!)
http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...duct_Code=AQX-WW-AL-USMA&Category_Code=AMD-WB

GPU block
Danger Den Maze4 Chrome Topped GPU Water Block
http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchan...Product_Code=DD-Maze4GPU-CR&Category_Code=VCW

1/2 in tubing

and for the pump would the 50z or the MCP650 be better?

Thanx for all of the replies.

This is widely argued. IMO it doesn't matter, they both perform basically the same, you can find articles saying each does better than the other. I just bought the D4 the other day, I have a friend who has it. Dudes at xtreme says the 50z is quieter, but I can't even hear the D4 in my friends system when my face is right up to it, so combine that thought with the fact you'd have 3 120mm fans and you can pretty much assume you won't hear it.

Yeah, they're both virtually the same thing, and it doesn't really matter in my opinion, I'm buying the MCP650 simply because I can find a closer place to buy it than the 50z.

Noise is just a freaking silly argument, unless you have a fanless radiator and absolutely no moving components in your system, you won't even notice the pump. I'd also prefer being able to hear signs of life from it incase it happens to die.

Niiiice, I've basically got the money for all the components but I just wanna wait for these new AMD cores and possibly the r520 and nVidia next generation cores to come out so I can either dish out a fortune on them, or just get lucky and snag a deal on a 6800GT or something.

Paint mods aren't too difficult anyway if cash gets limited.
