Asus Laptop

I have an ASUS L8400 laptop and it doesn't power up anymore. I've opened it up and found no visual problems with the motherboard nor the power card. Pluging in the power supply doesn't charge the battery and it doesn't even work pluging the power into the external port bar accessory. Any ideas before I start ripping it apart?

The laptop is long over warranty. What about the LCD? What should I check it for? Can a problem with the LCD stop the unit from turning on? The HD light doesn't turn on if that helps anyone.
