building a low-end gaming comp

i would like some advice on what to look for. im shooting for the $500-600 range if it is possible

Get an Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 754, cheap socket 754 mobo, Radeon 9600XT graphics card....and you pick the rest of the parts.

take out the monitor (im pretty sure he doesnt need one) and upgrade to a gig of ram
