Hi.

I have just built a new system with all new parts except my old IDE HDD.

The new system is:

AMD 64 3000+
Foxconn NF4UK8AA-8EKRS mobo
1gb ram
sony dvd rom
pny pci-e 6600gt

The system seems to recognise all of these in the POST screen.

The problem i have is that the POST screen is displayed, then a windows 'did not close down last time' screen displays. then, whichever option i choose, a blue screen flashes up and the system reboots before i can read what the message says.

ive tried checking jumpers, taking out a memory stick, etc, but with no success.

Any ideas as to what it might be?

could it be that my old HDD isnt compatible?

You should boot from your XP CD and enter recovery console. Type chkdsk /p.
If this doesn't work try sfc /scannow. (will loose all updates/hotfixes)

Was it a fresh install of windows? If not the OS probably tryed to load OLD drivers onto the new hardware and just failed to start and crashed.
