Microsoft has an automatic feature on a computer where it notifies you of critical updates, is there a way to shut this feature off so it won't come up? If so, how?

Where is it located in the control panel? I'm using win98 se.

TIA

Windows 98/98se doesn't come with this feature but you can download it from MS & install it. As this is obviously what has happened, I would suggest trying control panel->Add Remove Programs and see if it appears in there

uninstall windows update notification from the "add/remove programs" under control panel, or worst-case-senario, go to "find" and look for "windows update notification". I hope that helps...

If you have XP, push Winkey+Pause/Break, and when it comes up, go to the "Automatic Updates" tab, and select your options there.
