Two Hard Drives on a Laptop?

I'm about to get my first laptop and I know that 40gb will not be enough for me. So I was looking into external usb hard drives for extra storage.. Wll I be able to use the internal and external drives on the laptop at the same time?

Totally. Extra storage is a good idea also. with that you can save more stuff and you can even transfer from computer to computer.

This is the laptop I ordered off of newegg http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=34-115-191&depa=3 . It should be here tomorrow, it sounds nice for my needs (surfing, office applications, dvd's, music).. I also ordered an extra 512mb with it because 256 wouldnt do anything for me.
