yeah, it was tricky at those times. I have a friend who has a 1.8ghz 478, but i know somebody with a 2.0ghz 423. Just tell us your mobo model and well sort everyrthing out.

SlySniper, im not trying to push AMD on you. Nor am i trying to get you to spend more money. But if your doing some serious gaming. Such as online games and games such as Doom3, Half Life, Farcry, WoW, ect. Getting an AMD will work alot better for you. If your going to get a 2.8ghz Intel, your going to want one with 800mhz FSB. That means your going to need a new mobo. So you wouldent be going out of the way getting an AMD.

Also, socket 478 Intels are out-dated. All the new processors from Intel are LGA775. So that means you cant really upgrade on a 478. The new motherboards for AMD is socket 939.

You can get an AMD64 3000 for around 140$. You can also get a new motherboard for it around 100$. This processor will play games alot better then that 2.8ghz Intel.
