New monitor options

I'm considering purchasing a new TFT. Has to be a TFT, space is an issue blah blah... so don't suggest any hulking CRT's, K?

OK, one of the main the reasons why I'm upgrading is... Image Tearing. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but essentially a lower responce time & higher refresh rate can help reduce tearing (which explains why many high-end CRT's don't suffer from it so much). In particular Doom 3 suffers from it terribly- the worst I find- unless Vsync is enabled, but this is a major performance hit....

So, I'm looking around for a new monitor. My budget is around the £200 mark, but I can go a little higher if need be. Preferably the TFT will support 1600*1280, with super-low responce times and wicked refresh rate In black would be nice, too...

You probably already know this but I would check Ebay or look around online, nice choice though.

Viewsonic always makes a good monitor. Also, Sony's TFT are pretty nice. I used to work at Staples and sold both manufacturers. Both are good, I would give them a gander. Sorry I cant recommend on, as I dont have a tft, but take a look at those companies.
