sounds like its relating to the video card, do as I suggested as it really won't hurt and its not as if you can't change it back easily anyways :) just want to eliminate the possibility :)

Shadow im going off topic for a min, but you play warcraft? or any of the warcraft games other than WoW? because tinker is a heros name on there and you have tinkerer in your title, and you have a footman from warcraft 2 dieing as your avvy....

SP1 is pre installed if hes on xp pro as far as i know, but anyways i get that error everytime i try to scan my computer with nortan :-

1. Don't recall the version of XP (ie pro or home) being stated
2. Early releases didn't come with SP1 integrated

Anyway, Thresh, wondering if this might be a virus/adware problem. svchost.exe is a normal process that runs in XP but also tends to get hijacked by viruses/spyware.

Can you post a 'hijack this' log?

Download it here if you don't already have it (don't make any changes with it, just run the scan)

Edit:

Disregard my post, i didnt read everything..

Sounds like your system just went to hell. Try reinstalling, maybe you disabled something in the system services that needed to be enabled?

Ehh leave this to samm... she just kicked my ass rofl.... i forgot about the first version of xp.... i just have a realy old copy and it had sp1 figured they all did -.-

You're welcome.

Must admit, I forgot to ask if your system was OC'd (duh)!
Glad it all seems to be OK now & I can't see anything in the hijack log that looks suspect.
