just bought an hp officejet and it has usb connector - my usb ports are full. is there an adapter so i can use the parallel port or a splitter (?) so i can split one usb port between 2 devices?

You can but a USB hub. This will connect to one USB port but provide an additional 4 ports for example.

Word of warning though...not all USB devices, especially printers, like being connected via a hub. This is essentially because they require a high power draw from the USB port & if other devices are sharing that port at the same time, there isn't always enough power to go round.

To try & avoid this issue, I recommend you either connect the printer directly to its own USB port, & just connect low draw devices to the hub OR get a self-powered USB hub.

Better yet, do both!
