Ive been shopping for RAM and was wondering, how come higher speed RAMS (such as PC3200) are cheaper than lower speed RAMs (such as PC2700)??? I have a perfect example to show you guys. look, 1GB of Corsair RAM that comes in two sticks of 512MB. Both 184-pin, same brand, same everything, except for the speed, one is PC2700 and the other PC3200. Here are the links to both

PC2700 for $129.99
PC3200 for $87.99

can someone tell me why this is so? thanks alot

well after a little more research at www.outpost.com, i have found that only the PC3200 RAMs are cheaper than the PC2700s whereas all the other faster RAMS are MORE expensive than the PC2700s. I'd still like to know how come the PC3200s are cheaper??, thanks

sometimes they jack up the older stuff because it can become more 'rare' even though it's old technology. Lame stuff I know, but it happens.

Just be happy with it lol, it's better to get PC3200 even if you only need PC2700 anyway

Is PC3200 also backwardly compatible with PC2100 ? Or are there any technical differences between them that won't allow the use of PC3200 ??

I'm talking about putting PC3200 into a mobo built for PC2100. Will it work & be compatible, or are there technical differences that wouldn't allow the 3200 to work. (I know it would run at 2100 speeds in a 2100 mobo.)
