CD-ROM not recognized

My sister recently bought THE SIMS 2 from outside the states. The cd isn't recognized by her computer at all, a dell, however it CAN be read by both of my computers...

Anybody know why this is happening?

Are u sure its not a DVD???
any way if u can change the CD ROM (or what ever) from the pc that run it to the other and try it there

Are any CD's able to read in her system? Or just that one?

Also is the drive being recognized in My Computer?

If the drive is not being recognized at all I have some registry fixes that might solve the problem....

ok listen go to registry editor

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

just delete the upper filters and lower filters and also uninstall the drivers of DVD CD drive in device drivers

I think the Sims2 comes on a DVD not a CD.

LOL i think it might be because it is a DVD. I didn't even notice that.

It is a DVD my girl bought it and had to play it on my system because of the same reason.

for future reference, the cd-rom may be a low speed. Check out the speed that the disc gets read.
