Sound card question?

I am installing an audigy 2 soundcard into a system. It has onboard sound already. Do I have to disable the onboard sound or will it be ok. I have a front audio port which I want to use. Will it work if the onboard is disabled?

try it. And no, you shouldn't have to disable the onboard sound.

You can disable the onboard sound as some machines have had problems with having both running but some machines don't - I would disable the onboard sound just incase.

apart from the other suggestions, I would DEFINITELY disable the onboard sound. The onboard sound "chip" will still take up CPU power that can be used for something else. If you have your soundcard in, disable the onboard. You aren't using it anyway... what do you care? More power!
