ive done that mod too

instead i did it on 2x 120gb sata seagate hdds

rather cool to see them seek when they are in raid

now to open them up again and install leds!

Lube up your hard drive. Get some WD-40 spray it on the motor and the components. Make sure you don't get it on the platter. It worked for me.

Your likely to take out your hard drive by just opening it up, so I wouldnt recomend that
