Im building a computer soon and im on a low budget. ($400-$500)

instead of buying those high-end 64-bit AMD's or the Pentium 4's im looking into buying a Celeron D or a AMD Sempron CPU.

i was wondering if i could get some feedback on either one of the processors with the CONs and PROs. I just need an opinion. sorry if this topic has been covered already. im just a noob

Yeah. You can snag an Athlon XP for a really good price, or even a Sempron if you're extremely squeezed for cash.

ive compared the XP-M 2400+ and the Sempron2500 and i see no major difference except the Semprons FSB is higher and the 2400's has 128 more L2 cache.

With an Athlon XP-M, you can get it up to a near high performing chip if you know what you're doing. I highly recommend it.

edit - you'll need to dish out some money for good some decent RAM or you may find it difficult to overclock very high.
