get the 6600gt, there's really no point (imo) to get something like the 6800gt b/c the 6600 and the 6800 will pretty much phase out and 6600gt is probably enough to run whatever games you want; around the same time, and by then, you'll have around $200 more to spend on a newer card

however, the x800xl is also a good choice if u got a lil more money

that is also a 128-bit card... not a 256-bit, there goes half your performance.

256-bit=32 bytes xfer
128=16 bytes xfer

let benchmarks be the judge of performance....
just because one card is 256 bit compared to a 128 bit card, does not mean it gives better performance
just like clock speeds, a higher clock speed doesn't necessarily mean better performance

and also, it is not PCI-X it is PCI-E
PCI-X is a 64-bit expansion slot used in severs
PCI-E is the newer serial version of PCI, which is what we're talking about here

I decided to pay out the ass and get a card that will last me atleast 3 years... Got the 6800gt... Definitely satisfied with warranties and perks, as well as the easy install... The fact it now rapes the shit outta half life and counter strike source
