When I turn on my laptop it doesnt log on to windows. The message says windows did not start succesfully. When I try the safe mode I get a long list that says:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS

I count 24 lines like that and each one ends with a different phrase:

\aliide.sys
\viaide.sys

etc.

What does this mean?

Did you update any drivers recently? sometimes when there is a corrupted installation, you will get stuck on that boot up sequence.

It doesnt appear to be stuck on any file. It gives me a choice of continuing to log on to windows or picking one of three types of safe modes. If I do nothing or choose to continue logging on I get a black screen. If I pick a safe mode I get a long list that says:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System
32\DRIVERS

I count 24 lines like that and each one ends with a different phrase:

\aliide.sys
\viaide.sys

etc.
From that screen I cant go anywhere.

Try unplugging everything and removing the battery and holding down the enter key for about 45 sec. This is so the mobo goes dead for bois & cmos to go back to factory defaults and try booting up again.

Nothing seems to be helping and I would rather not try reloading windows because I would loose data that would be very time consuming to replace.
