Hi,
I got a problem, I had one hard drive (Maxtor 30GB) with Windows XP and, when I try to plug another hard drive (Fujitsu 6.4GB) Windows XP boot, but at the half of the boot it does a blue screen that says "Unknown Hard Error". These two hard drives work perfectly. I tried to format and it doesn't work. When I invert the plug (the IDE plug have two things to plug hard drives) it also do a blue screen but, it says "Unable to mount partition" (I'm not sure if it exactly that). The Maxtor is the Master and the Fujitsu is slave. I have two CD-ROM (Pionner DVD and Generic CD-ROM) they do work correctly and they are setted Master and Slave. Windows DOES start up BUT in Safe Mode ONLY!

Can someone help me?

That sounds like a hardware problem. Can you boot of of one without the otherone connected? Do that, and run a CHKDSK or Scandisk on it. Also you can try to plug them both in without the cd roms hooked up, because you may have a jumper mixup.
