Networking windows 98 and windows XP

Well,here I go again.I'm trying to network a windows 98 PC and a windows XP PC through a d-link switch.
XP is designed to basically force you to upgrade to a new OS when networking to legacy software.Either that or I'm just not holding my mouth right.If anyone has some suggestions as to how to do this I would be very appreciative.
Side note:The 98 PC is basically legacy too,but should have what it takes to network.I've worked on legacy nwetworks before,but not in mixed mode like this.

I wouldn't suggest networking those two OSes because 98 can't see XP but other than that u should be fine as long as your d-link supports it.
