with xfx there's a bigger chance to get a bad card

btw, try getting some other memory (the G skill LE's etc.)

im not so sure that that ram will even work in that computer even at reduced speeds
Aspire....if the mobo supports DDR1, it will work, simple as that. It just won't run immediately at those high speeds, he'd need to manually set it.

So basically eVGA has a greater reliability record? Do you think getting the bundled software is even worth it?
Yes eVGA has a very good reliability record. Also generally the so called 'bundled' packages are a little bit more. I just love it on newegg I think it is, the eVGA 6800GT with the FREE Doom3 game! costs like $30 more than the 6800GT by itself lol.

evga 6800 GT agp: $360
evga 6800 GT AGP w/ "free" doom 3: $400
evga 6800 GT PCI-e: $380

Too bad they don't have the doom 3 bundle with PCI-e. If doom 3 came in a PCI-e version for $400, I'd definitely buy it. It's only $20 more while the game itself is $30. But then again, newegg has done wondrous things by charging you $40 for something that they say is "free".

Is there even a bundled package for the eVGA 6800 GT PCI-e?
