sup guys, well, basicaly I just need a new computer, this computer is a p.o.s, I have around 1200 to spend on a pc, This PC will be used for gaming, games that I play, Counter-Strike(1.6), Unreal Tournament (newer versions), and maybe C-S Source,

So, if you guys can get a pretty good set-up for me, i'd appreciate it, Thanks

are you comfortable with building your own comp? it raelly isn't that hard and we can pick out the best parts for your budget if you can

1.just to make sure, what state do you live in
2.what connection do you have (i.e. dsl, cable, dialup)
3.will you still be using your old comp ?
4. do you have your own copy of windows that you can use

I would suggest building your own computer, since you can save money and get the stuff you want. For your processer, I would suggest an AMD Athlon 64, 3000+ or higher. For your mobo, I would try to get one with PCI-E and socket 939. Abit, and DFI make good mobos, so I would prob go with them if I were you. As for your graphics card, the eVga 6600GT is a great card for the money, and as for the rest of the stuff, I will let others suggest....

I might recommend the X800XL over the 6600 GT, but i am something of an ATI fanboy (here comes the crowd with the thumbscrews). id say amd athlon 64 3000+, 1 gig of RAM, X800XL, and an nforce 4 mobo.

i put together a gaming system just recently.

1gig DDR 400 Dual Channel (Mushkin Blue)

Athlon 64 3200 (clocks at 2.01 stock)
Chaintech Mobo
Built buy ATI Radeon 9800 pro 256mb / 256 Bit
120gig WD HDD
Lite On DVD-RW
Thermal Take Tsnuami Dream Case
Enermax 550watt power supply

I spent less than $1000 and love the system.

You can do alot with a grand when you can build it yourself.

Good luck

Yeah, X800XL is better, but the 6600GT does cost 100 bucks less......So you should get the X800XL if you can afford it, and the eVga 6600GT I suggested if you can't....

this is one hella kickass rig it will play all games that are out at full settings and will look tite as hell plus it can easily be upgraded in the future

1. all he needs is a 3200+, the jump to 3500+ isn't worth it at all
2. he has a $1000+ budget and you're giving him a vanilla 6800???
3. i have the ram you suggested and i wouldn't suggest it to anyone; there's better options for the money
4. newegg>ZZF
5. he doesn't need fans if he's getting the thermaltake (i'm pretty sure he'd like the TT better)
6. where's the power supply?
7. the WD 80gig sata (really cheap at newegg) is all he needs

All the games you suggested play best on ATI cards, keep that in mind people, especially you nvidia fanboys.

Ok time for my suggestion.

Total (+.99 shipping per piece per special newegg deal going on right now):
$1232.45

It would also be a wise investment to buy an additional 120mm exhaust fan for the back and an 80mm intake fan for the front. :)
Another possible upgrade would be another of the same hard drive for uber-fast RAID 0. And that is an SATA II hard drive so it is blazing fast.

Overall this computer would be VERY overclockable but even at stock speeds this thing would OWN as a gaming computer. :p
