I have a PC with win98 on it. I can't connect to the internet. I've gone through all the setup settings, I've even tried using another NIC card, but I still can't get access. I've tried mozilla, and still get the same thing. I've used hijackthis, but I've never connected to the internet , so it's a moot point to do that stuff. Any other suggestions?

Try placing the NIC in different slots and make sure you haven't any conflicts with past installs. For whatever reason I have to have my NIC in slot 1 or else it just won't work even though my sound card works fine in all of them.

Are there any files missing from your comp's OS?

Is your NIC card being detected in Device Manager?

Have you tried using a modem to see it could connect with it?
