Sounds like a call to all the modders around here.

You may want to move this to the Modders Forum.

how about you just buy a whole new gfx card heatsink fan combo. i saw a couple on newegg for about 30 bucks

Ek, generally you just press the white clip you see in the picture there down a little bit, and on the back of the card, squeeze the end together so it'll slip through the part of the PCB it's hooking itself on to keep it attached.

I'm pretty sure that's all there is to it. A few little spring loaded anchor points like the one in the pic. Just go on the back, squeeze the ends together and push it through

Sorry I wasn't too clear. I know how to replace the fan. there was actually just 4 screws on top to remove the fan. The fan itself looked like it was a skeleton, it is a really wierd tiny brushless designed specifically for this video card. I can't figure out what would fit in it's place. btw aspire.comptech this video card cost me $150-200 so I think I'd rather try to fix it than buy a a new one. I realised the reason why i got choppy video playback was because my card is overheating. and yesterday the pc froze and the heatsink on the video was on fire.

was it literally on fire? and did you pay that much for that card now? or did you buy it like 2 years ago or so? BTW i payed 250$ for my 5600ultra like a long time ago and it dosent lok that spiffy:( i wish i had a better video card now. BAH

Something like that should work. That's a 40mm fan, just see if you can find out if it's 40mm, 45mm, 60mm or what, probably 40-45 though is my guess.

Technically the fan would be thicker than the one you have in there, basically it looks like half the plastic of a normal fan would be cut off and that's what they got there, but using long enough screws or simply cutting away part of the fan housing you should easily be able to replace it

Nubius you're right it was 45x45x10. I'm so dumb I didn't think to remove the fan and measure it. I was always afraid of damaging my expensive VGA card. you know what? the back of the fan said evercool ec4510m12s. this is identical except mine is made of clearish white plastic. you can see what i meant by skeleton:

aspire.comptech I was looking all over newegg and didn't stumble across those yet, thanks for those cool links. I think all I gotta do is buy up a few of these fans while they still stock them. Thanks to both of you guys for your help :)
