I just recently download Knoppix Version 3.6. I have created 2 new partitions using Partition Magic 8.0 (EXT2 - 20 GB's, SWAP AREA - 512MB's). I tried to install it, and it gave me this error message:
Error: Formatting of failed. Some messages from mkfs.ext: Usage: mkfs.ext3 [-c:-t:-l filena,e] [-b block-size] [-f fragment-size] [-i bytes-per-inode] [-j journal options] [-N number-of-inodes]

Can anyone help me here? I am also trying to have a dual boot: Knoppix 3.6 and Windows XP Professional.

Thanks

See, there is in installer. Most people think that there isn't. but there is. At the KDE Desktop, you press control+alt+F1, and that takes you to you to the root colsole. There, you type in "Knoppix-installer" and it runs the installer. I have tried demain. I am such a noob at Linux, its not even funny. I NEED something that's as easy to use as Knoppix, and also easy to install (especially for noobs like me).

Yes you can install Knoppix, I'm sure of that. Don't know why you can't though.

Another easy-to-use distribution of Linux would be SuSE or Mandrake. Try downloading either of those and see if they install. I'd start with SuSE as it'll be a smaller download.

Although you can install Knoppix, it was never one of it's primary functions, it was designed to boot from a CD, so maybe they didn't perfect the installer quite so well.
