Hrm...
I'm trying to find out which is better: Style XP or WindowBlinds. I haven't tried WindowBlinds yet, although i heard it was pretty good. Style XP is decent, but it just skins it. I want something that changes like, everything basically. Is there anything out there that will do that?

Thanks.

windows blinds skins windows. I've had windows blinds on my old computer and i didnt really have that much trouble with it. But i heard that it slows down your computer more then stylexp. Go to the Style xp site and it explains why its not as slow as windows blinds. Im not sure how style xp works though. If u dont care much about a slight performance decrease then i would go with windows blinds and other stardock programs.

thats only my opinion and im not much of a computer expert so u dont need to listen to me.

heres a skin gallery for windows blinds and many other programs from stardock. it also has skins for other programs.

Style XP seems to clunky to me, not to mention they still attach 3rd party junk to some of thier themes even if you pay for it. Windowsblinds has gotten much better and uses much less resources than older versions. I use niether.

I went to Belchfire.net and installed the "multi-patcher". It replaces the uxtheme.dll allowing you to install unsigned visual styles and themes within Windows without having a 3rd party app installed.

The patcher is free though they do have a pay product as well. Use the multi-patcher, it's nice. They have a full tutorial explaining it all and allot of nice themes and styles. You can use themes and styles from anywhere if you don't like the ones on Belchfire so long as you can extract them properly.

Here's the tutorial for installing visual styles and themes once you have the "multi-patcher" installed.

Here is the silver-blue theme that I am using. Note the only thing that the author has changed in this style is the luna-silver from green "start" to blue "start" and red buttons to blue buttons. When you install this specific style you will have 2 "Windows XP Style" themes in display properties. One normal and the one you installed. I tried to rename the style but that didn't work. The rest you install will have different names.

tribalsun, would u happend to know if doing that will slow down my computer? im a gamer and i care aobut that kind of stuff.

It won't slow you down at all. Unlike Windowsblinds and StyleXP the multi-patcher is not a 3rd party application running on top of Windows. So any themes and styles you install will work natively within the Windows Display Properties. If at any time you want to remove the patcher just run the installer again and it will replace the modified uxtheme.dll with the Windows original. Remove any styles and themes from the C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes folder while leaving the original Windows files intact and your all set.

In short, no it will not slow you down at all. :)

I prefer Style Xp its good im using it from years and i have a wide choice in Visual styles i think its better than Blinds (which i used long time ago and did not like)
