I'm not saying they are bad, but AMD is the way you want to go for gaming.

I would go further through the pages for a better explanation, but my pc is bloody slow, it lags on paint ffs. (im not on the one in my sig's picture as it doesn't work.)

Basically, Pentiums give you slightly higher performance for a huge increase in price, and are known to be better with high-demand apps than AMD, whereas AMD is generally considered better for gaming.
AMDs are also known to run a little bit hotter.

I think if you're on a budget, gaming only with your PC, or looking for a high performance/cost ratio you should get an AMD.
If you have a lot of money to spend and you run a lot of taxing progs, go Intel.

People argue over this topic day in and day out and solve absolutely nothing. It might as well be an argument between religions or politics.

Whoa whoa whoa, hold off on the processor discussion for a moment. Let's talk about the video card here.

For only a few dollars more than the one that was suggested to you this is a much better video card:

It has 16 pixel pipelines instead of 12. It is a much better card overall and is worth the extra $5 or whatever over the x800 pro.

Ok just wanted to make sure I got that fixed up.

As for the processor well I've never had the pleasure of using one of the new 64 bit intel processors but I think it would be pretty neat. But I would definitely recommend you get a 64 bit processor whether it be Intel of AMD. Because I am already using the windows 64 bit OS and it's great, and the final release will be out in a matter of month so you might as well make sure you are on the 64 bit bandwagon.

Yes, it is PCI express X16, look under the section that says "BUS:" That tells you what bus type the card is for future reference.

Here is a setup you could also consider.

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 2800+ $109.00, shipping = free

I think this would be excellent for gaming. Of course if you want a CD-ROM or floppy drive then you might want to factor in those costs also. But this is the main stuff.
:D
