I still dont know if i'll notice a different between a true SATA drive or SATA/PATA. I'm still convinced with dale's $57 WD. I don't care if I have to wait 2 seconds longer for half-life 2 to load.

That WD SATA drive is the exact one I was looking at.
Its a great drive and for the $ you cant beat it. I wouldnt
think twice about buying it. Go get it.

Those numbers only mean something to those who try to
get every ounce out of their machines. I only posted those
benchmarks because of the dispute about what I said.

I became aware of the info after looking into SATA and
reading over and over again that the advertised rate was not
quite true. In fact I think it was the Barracuda drives that were
the first true SATA drive but the systems that implement the
v1 sata interface cant even push the 150 mark.

As of Tom's Hardware benchmarks, the max was somethink like
112 bandwidth interface and the WD's were only in the 70s so
less than half the advertised 150 which was all I was saying.

Ok I was a little confused, I thought you meant you couldn't use your drive with the SATA connectors. Because you said something about not being able to use the slimmer cables. I use the slim SATA connectors fine on mine.
And I don't know if those comparison charts really work, those are all 250GB drives, a big difference from 80GB drives.
