My dad is now so interested in building his own pc. He wants an everyday computer for music, photos, videos, word processing, email, ocassionly a game like call of duty or battlefile 1942. He wants to keep it as cheap as possible but wants good reliable componetns he wants AMD not Intel. He already chose a Western Digital 80gb HD, and 512md PC3200 ram, and a Lite-On CD burner and DVD player. So he needs a mobo, cpu, vid card, and case. Remember this is just an everyday computer on a $550 budget. He wants to order from newegg.

Hmm.. Im not sure about the prices.. but

Cpu - AMD 3000+ about $150? upgrade to a 3200+ if you can afford it.
Mobo- no idea on amd mobos.
GPU - 6600GT. around $180
Case- Any random Generic case will be fine, just look around newegg for one that you like. with the setup you won't be generating too much heat so your not going to need uber cooling.

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum $153 or maybe the SLI board to prepare for dual video cards but it will cost you about $180. Make sure your 6600 GT is PCI-E card though. you might want to consider going with SLI since it will be cheaper to add another 6600 GT card than upgrade to a 6800 Gt or Ultra later on.

Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-130-491&depa=1 - $90

CPU - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-502&depa=1 - $190

Video Card - http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=14-130-214&depa=1 - $180

That is 460 + S/H, probably around 480.

That gives you 90 bucks to spend on a nice case with a couple fans (yes, make sure you get fans).

So...

I would recommned this case for you, strong faithful and trusty brand - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-112-211&depa=1 - $76 (+15 shipping)

Also it comes with two fans, you can get more if neccessary

EDIT::: Also the Socket 939 setup there will allow you to get another stick of 512 Ram later on, to get dual channel on the system. You will like that a lot, but don't need it immediatly.
