hot prescott

on stock cooling full blast my 3.4 is runing mid 50's idle and low 70's under load. is this normal for prescott? i know they are hot but...damn that's hot. i have a 7700 on it's way with some as5, so i'm not to worried, just wanted to know the average temps one idle and load for this hell of a thing.

that is quite hot - i think you definitley need that cooling in quick sharp !

Low 70's ??? Are you sure you've got an accurate reading ????

I mean, i'll be the first to say prescott's are hot, but thats hot even for a prescott.. Have u got the heatsink sittin properly??? and did u apply thermalpaste???

holy, how did u get it that hot? yea prescotts run hotter than other p4 cores, but thats extreme. Im surprised u havent experienced failure yet.

That temperature is normal for a Prescott, they have been designed and tested to run safely at temperatures that would be considered problematic for most other processors.

I'd still recommend trying to cool it down as much as possible though.

yea thats pretty high. My 3200+ runs at 33 C.

70 is not normal for a prescott, 50 yes.. but 70 no

ya, with stock HS i run 43-44 idle and about 56-58 full load. And I have it clocked @ 3.68. And my wiring is just horrific, so it could have alot better airflow. that 70 is way to hot
