I am getting a new PC with the following specs:
xp 2700
512 ram
pc 333
5900
80 gig harddrive

Total=$400

Keep in mind that I am getting this PC primarily for a better GAMING experience. Will this PC be able to run most of the newer games such as Counter Strike Source smoothly? ANY Imput would be appreciated, thanks.

Is this a good deal?

that comp won't run the new games smoothly

about how much can you spend on a computer?

edit: it's a bad deal as well

hmm I was having some doubts as well but could you possibly go more in-depth as to why?
I'm looking to spend $500 for a well-built PC that will run new games smoothly and give me an overall good gaming experience.

so are you taking suggestions on budget? (Ei parts?) (is that Canadian currency?)

$500 will not let you play new games smoothly and you should build a computer yourself

xp 2700
this cpu is outdated, but will still work

512 ram
pc 333
usually 1 gig is optimal, but 512 is fine; however, ddr333 doesn't give it as much bandwidth as ddr400 so it's not as good

5900
again, this is an outdated video card

80 gig harddrive
meh, it's a hard drive and it works

[missing]: case and power supply
i'll bet anything that it comes with a bad case/power supply; you'd want a decent psu and case to run with your computer (it'll cost at least $80-100 but it's worth it)

[also missing]: motherboard
well it depends on what you're using

Well Here is my situation: For over 2-3 years I have been stuck on a POS system: Pentium 4 CPU 1500MHz, 1.4 GHz, 256 MB of RAM, and lastly a godamn GeForce 2 Video Card. I can run games such as Call of Duty, but it take's forever for the maps to load, constant choppiness and FPS lag, etc.
If I take the offer I just listed above, won't things change? I'm primarily looking to run CS:Source smoothly. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Also Diablo when you say it's not a good deal do you mean by the specs and the price I'm getting it for? Or the fact that I can do a lot better with that money?

nope, you really can't do better with that money

one thing you could do is upgrade your computer

do you know what your motherboard is?

Id suggest at least an Athlon 64 3000+, but the 3200+ would be great, its a really nice processor. A gig of RAM, and a 6600 GT

Okay, a bit more expensive than what u wanted to spend, but also a helluva better system. I didnt include floppy drive, monitor, speakers, and keyboard/mous, cuz i assumed u already have those. However, this would be a very nice system that would definitly play CS: Source at highers settings. Much better than the PC you listed above.

You can also shave off the hard drive if you already have a good one. You could just pull it out of the old comp and put it in the new one. As for power supply, the case is an Antec, so its already got a decent power supply.

Alright, here is a computer that would give you a great gaming experience for fairly cheap as well. Shipping prices are included.

CPU- AMD Athlon XP 2800+...$99
RAM- Corsair 512 MB (2x512 MB) DDR PC3200...$63
Motherboard- Biostar M7NCD Pro...$53.99
Hard Drive- Western Digital 80 GB...$58.50
Video Card- eVGA GeForce 6600GT...$184.99
Case- Antec w/ 350watt psu...$77.99
Optical Drive- Sony DVD/CD-RW Combo...$37.49

Grand Total...$574.96

I know that is a bit over $500, but you would have a very enjoyable gaming experience. What do you think of that computer?
