DDR 400 and 533

My motherboard supports both 400 and 533 if i get something at 400 will it bring down the 533??????

If it supports ddr 400 and 533, thats just the speed of the memory. Putting in DDR400 will be fine. The 533 stick should stay at 533.

I think if you have one stick of DDR533 and one stick of DDR400, both sticks will only run as fast as the slowest one; i.e DDR400.

But if I'm wrong, I'll be pleased to hear the results

yea thats what i heard but they are different colored slots so wouldnt they be independant from the other?

No, all your RAM runs at the same speed, which is the speed of your slowest module.

I suggest researching a bit before helping people.

If you put DDR2 400mhz the 533 will slown down.

My condolances for having DDR2 and an intel btw, since normal DDR is still better and cheaper.
