Hey,
I know that most of you are probably like me, tired of using Windows. Well, I am using Slax (Live CD) and I like it a lot. I tried to install Linux Debian, and that didn't work out too well for me. It gave me an error message saying "Error 17." Are there any other operating systems, or any other distro's that I can use and that are easy to install?
Thanks.

Mandrake, Slackware, SuSE, Fedora, are all easy to install. Generally all Linuxes are not hard to install. If debian gave you an error then maybe the download was corrupt.

Order a free Linux Ubunto CD http://shipit.ubuntulinux.org i like it but then again i havt tried others.

Plz dont order a cd inless you are gona use it remember this is a GOOD company not like MS, this aint no sp2 that we order as many as possible.

I just ordered a x86 cd. I'm interested to see how it goes.

its really good because they give you a bootable (or Live) version. and an Installer for the full OS

Yeah, they will send you like 10 copies also, to distribute among your freinds. It will probably take about 3-4 weeks though.

I went to this link >> http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=17 and I'm downloading Slackware 10.0 because m3trj said that it was easy to install. By the way, a friend of mine gave me the link to download Debien, and I guess that maybe it was a corrupted copy. I hope that Slackware works for me though. Also, is there anything that I need to configure after I install Slackware, because my friend told me that MOST Linux distro's don't work right out of the box.

It should be fine. They all ran right out of the box for me, except the sound in Slackware. If there's something you can't get working then I'm sure the guys in the Linux forum will happily help you.

I have Linux Debian, well, not exactly. See, I currently have Windows XP Professional. I installed Linux Debian, and I got this message after it was installed and restarted:
Grub Loading 1.5
Grub loading, please wait...
Error 17.

A friend of mine told me that i'll have A LOT more problems installing Slackware than i will Debian. I'm new to Linux too. Can someone help me with this issue?
