Which of these is the best deal, I don't have a Base cost set out yet so when it says base cost, just assume something that makes sence, it's really just there to show how much more expensive the other sets are. Thanks :) The Primary use for this computer will be Gaming today - Gaming in 3 years. If the speeds don't seem right, it's becasue they are overclocked.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2.45GHZ), 2GB RAM (550MHZ), 6800GT (400/1100MHZ) @ Base Cost

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2.5GHZ), 2GB RAM (550MHZ), 6800GT (400/1100MHZ) @ Base Cost + $50

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2.45GHZ), 4GB RAM (550MHZ), 6800GT (400/1100MHZ) @ Base Cost + $350

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2.5GHZ), 4GB RAM (550MHZ), 6800GT (400/1100MHZ) @ Base Cost + $400

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2.45GHZ), 2GB RAM (550MHZ), 2 6800GTs in SLI (400/1100MHZ) @ Base Cost +$550

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2.5GHZ), 2GB RAM (550MHZ), 2 6800GTs in SLI (400/1100MHZ) @ Base Cost + $600

None of those CPU's you have listed are running at correct clock speeds. I dont recomend buying pre OC'ed COU's

Anyways a 3200+ whinchester with a 6800GT would suffice

But with today's technolagy, dont expect to play the latest games in 3 years.

Were going dual core, hardware is now catching up to software.

Okay, so don't buy anything now or soon, and wait for Dual Core? Ahh why didn't someone tell me this before... Well anyway, what other technology will be needed to play games 3 years from the time it was bought? And approx. how long will it take for those technologys to be on the market (at any price)

We can not accuratly tell the future

In 3 years from now according to moore's law which has almost always been true, we will have 16800+ Athlon 64's flying around.

Since alot of games are very limited because of hardware, I think we should expect to see today's hardware get outdated pretty fast.

No graphics card on the market will be anywhere near top-notch in three years, so buy what you need for now, as you will upgrade at least once between now and then.

CPU's are changing rapidly. Dual cores should be out within six months. If can wait, I would. A top-end dual core may last forthree years, maybe not.

Not :p

Think of the speeds within the next three years

Dual 6800GTs @ 500clock/ 1300Mem would last three years for gaming I bet- but not with the best visuals. Eventually you'd have to lower something, but they'd still last though- or they should. And for dual core, don't worry about it. Look how long it has taken to switch from 32bit to 64 bit, we are just beginning it still and the A64 was released 2yrs ago. Go with an A64 that is in your price range with dual 6800GTs. Oc the A64 and the GTs to their limit and be happy.

Also, get a good gig or two of solid dual channel ram to maximize your performance.

Speeds, yes, Chris. But today's top-ens CPU will meet the minimums for quite a while.

Isn't just amazing how fast computers are changing becauselike look at a 1998 rigs cpu and graphics cards that have barely a Gigahert of speed on an intel with 128 ram and 128 or less graphics card and look at us now about to come out with dualcores and 512 graphics with 4 gigs of ram it's just amazing on how quick the human race is evolving in the world of computers and technology.
