I am thinking about getting a new monitor when I get my new computer. I wanted a CRT because it's a lot cheeper then then the LCD and it's not like I'm taking it anywhere so it doesn't matter how much it weighs. But I notice there are contrast ratios on LCDs and not CRTs. What exactly is a contrast ratio and is it all the same on CRTs or something. And if yes what is it? Thanks :)

not too sure what it does, something about brightness n pitch or something. But as your going for a CRT, you cant really buy a bad crt these days if u stick to reputable brands

Hello,

Here's a clipping from PCWorld.com:

'Contrast ratio is the ratio of a screen's whitest white to its blackest black. A higher number generally means a better image and easier-to-read text. But PC World Test Center evaluations of 15 LCD units showed that in some cases, actual contrast ratios were below the vendors' specifications--by as much as 50 percent'

there is no contrast ratio in CRT. if you are going for a CRT, a well rcommended is Mitsubishi Diamond Pro Monitor. its image is amazingly clear.
