big problem!

First of all what's the green thing for? second of all...If you look closley, it looks like there is screws...(second/third picture). It kinda looks like the fan's just wedged in there - i think you can just pop it out, right?
 
Yea I wouldnt mess with it cuz dell makes their crap so only they can fix and upgrade it. Its kinda dumb, dells suck. I would replace the motherboard and CPU with something better and then you dont have to worry about all of Dell's garbage.

After my eMachines mobo fried, I ditched eMachines and bought a GigaByte mobo and an Athlon 64 3200+ and 512MB Corsair PC3200 RAM. Everything works great now and I can do all my own repairs.
 
i tried popping the fan off and no go. also the holes are not for screws. its held on by some sort of rubber stands. the green thing changes the direction of the air flow so that it blows down on top of the heat sink.
 
ya im planning on buying a new mobo and a new case but it will b awhile. so for 13 bux its worth it to buy it.
