low on memory

ive been getting this message on the bottom right hand corner on my desktop. low on virtual memory or something. its a yellow baloon pop up.i get it after playing HL2.

When im playing half life 2 i freeze alot for 1 - 5 seconds and the game doesnt run as smooth as before.

There was a point in time where i didnt get that message and half life2 ran good.

Whats wrong with it? do i have to get more ram or something?

i didnt make any big changes to my computer either.

right click my computer and click properties. go to advanced. Under performance click settings. Click the advanced tab. At the bottom where is says virtual memory, click change. Increase the amount of virtual memory you have. Im assumming you have Win XP.

wut do i do after that? like whats a good number tp put in

click custom size and change the inital size to aroung 800MD and the maximum around 1600MB. (I'm just going by the default setting for my computer, and I only have 40 GB of HD.)

wow mines was low. it was at 384mb for initial size and 768 for maximum size.
