Hello,
Can anyone help me to remove a Netsetter spyware file ??
I keep getting the error message "Explorer has caused an error in OSMIM.dll" I have to click on OK as everyhting freezes. This then takes me out of the webpage I am in and back to my desktop.
I have done various Spyware scans, but the file can not be removed as it says that Windows is using it.

Anyone have any ideas ??? I would be grateful of any tips.

I am using Windows ME edition.

Many Thanks

Sam

Okay what programs are you running? Spybot SD and Microsoft Antispyware beta or Lavasoft Ad-Ware will be sufficent.

When booting go into safe mode (by pressing f8, if this does not work, when the windows bar loads, hard boot your computer)

Now run virus scans and if nessacary manually find that DLL and delete \ rename it.

Hey Reyne..
I have search and destroy....and it won't destroy it !!
But thanks for the reply

Hi DJ-Chris, thanks for your reply, but no amount of virus scanning will remove this blasted file. I am running the Spybot Search and Destroy, AVG, and Xoftspy...It has somehow attached itself to my computer and I can not remove/delete or rename it. Every time I try it says that Windows is using it...The scans find the bad file, but can not remove it.
I am not sure how to go into the safe mode that you mention. I tried pressing F8, but nothing happened. I am not brilliant on computers unfortunatley.

Thanks so far...any more ideas ??
Sam

When it deny's you ascess, this is when you need to go into safe mode, or put the hard drive in another PC and try to delete the files.

If F8 doesn't work, try pressing F5 at the bootup screen this might take you into Safemode as this is what my Safemode key is.

Have you tryed Searching for a tool which is only based on that virus removal?

I've done a little research and I've come up with these:

Try the new anti-virus and spyware beta checker @ http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ - It's the "new" one and it's free online scanner.

Also trythe following below they are aimed at "nschecr.exe"

- http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

If none of the above doesn't fix it reply back and I'll look some more, also remeber to run all your removal tools in safemode and then non-safe mode also be sure to check out housecall and the other 2 links i gave.

Thanks so much for the help. I will give those sites a try.

I know this will be painful. First back up all of your data, stuff you need on a CD. Then Format your hard drive. Reinstall Windows ME [ I would recommend buying XP].
