I have heard of a copy of linux that boots from a cd and dosent install to your HDD.

Is there any way you can make a disk like that for WinXP and if so does anyone know the process.

I know about knoppix but can you make a cd that installs WinXP the same way as knoppix, sorry i think i worded the question incorectly.

there is a way, but it's not the same. WinPE, PreInstallation Environment. It will boot you into a command shell so you can run functions, but the program is only setup for troublshooting and for deployment. It's not a fully functional OS by any means. BartPE is another way tool Might want to look into it at http://nu2.nu

Thanks Inaris that page was very interesting i am downloading a copy of their software now and i will give it a go.
