Hello again !!

I have the folloing Motherboard EPoX EP-8KTA2 and it states Two bus mastering ATA 33/66/100 EIDE
Does this mean that i can only have a hard drive with an Interface: Ultra ATA/100
Or can i go for one with an Interface: Ultra ATA/133

All help much appreciated as usual.

Copper.

I think the ultra is just because it supports UDMA or Ultra Direct Memory Access. Udma means faster ide communication but as i have seen UDMA is backwards compatible with standard IDE driver but most nowadays are UDMA

another quick note check the HDD and see if its backward compatible ie. 133 backwards using 100 but at most youll only be using 100 even with a 133 drive

buy a new mobo!
that thing has that huge black slot forwatever thing like soundblaster16 lol!!

Cheers !

So what would be a good mobo that would be compatible with what i have already got, but will take a fair upgrade in the very near future ?

Thanks again
Copper.

i wouldn't buy a new mobo just for ata133. the difference isn't that mind blowing. stick with what you can use now and upgrade when you really need to, or to show off to your friends. an ata133 hard disk will slow to ata100 if you install it in that computer.
