comp won't restart

hey guys, i'm having some problems with my comp. whenever i restart my comp it takes me on average to get the comp to post and boot. usually it just gives me a black screen and doesn't do anything. i have to turn it off and wait for a minute, then turn it on and hopefully if i'm lucky it'll boot properly. sometimes it freezes during the windows setup. yeserday when i was installing suse 9.1 pro, it took me at least 15 tries to get it to properly install. it was almost impossible to get it to boot off the cd, and a few times when i finally got into the setup, it would freeze and force me to restart the comp and therefore to restart the setup.

anyone know what's wrong with it? it's a big pita to spend 5+ minutes everytime trying to get the comp to boot. when i'm in windows or in linux it works perfectly; no slow-downs or anything.

Try updating chipset and your bios - worth a shot.

how do i update my bios?

read the motherboard manual

you should try to take out the battery for a while then look inside your bios to change configurations to what you have.
