ActiveX problem

I was trying to fix this girl's computer yesterday because she said she kept getting an error message about activex. She has an HP 1100c scanner/copier/printer all in one connected to an HP laptop. When she tries to scan or edit a picture, an error message pops up saying that security restrictions and activex prevent her from running that application. For the life of me i cannot figure out what is the matter. She just had XP SP2 put on the PC because her school required it for her to stay on their network. I think thats whats causing it but any suggestions on how to fix it would be great!

unload any anti-cirus, anti-spam u might have running
if that doesn't do anything, backup all the pics u need, then try uninstalling it and the drivers and reinstalling it.
