I'm looking to replace my stock Intel CPU fan/heatsink with a much quieter one. I really don't think cooling is very much of an issue, but of couse i dont want to fry my cpu. Any suggestions are appreciated! Here are the CPU heatsink/fans that i'm considering.

TR2TT(Designed by Thermaltake) - **

Cooler Master Hyper 48 CPU Heatpipe Cooler

Zalman CNPS7700-AlCu Heatsink Fan

** - leaning towards these

zalman 7000s are ultra quiet/effective.. The ones we use at work (7000a, 7700a maybe?) keep the systems around 34c idle.

out of the two you are considering..it should be very easy to tell that this one:

Thermaltake P4 Spark 7+ - **

Would outperform the other...generally price tags mean nothing, but in this case $30 vs $10....the P4 will give you way better performance...couple it with a tornado and you got awesome (but loud) cooling...with a fan controller it's all gravy

depending if it fits ur board get the xp120, its the best air cooler on the market at the moment. But as i say its huge and might not fit your motherboard. have a look around see if it does.

EDIT or if it doesnt the next best thing is the all copper version of that zalman 7700. a 120mm fan really helps cooling and is alot quieter

yea i am somewhat limited with space

i dont really want to spend all the money on the all-copper version of the Zalman. I did see it though.

I wish it works better then it does, it only helped my temps a few degrees.

But you have to consider how quiet the zalman is. Looking at the noise and CFM of that spark 7 it would seem like the zalman would cool better and at a lower noise level.

And because the poster is going for quiet I think out of all of those the zalman on the silent setting would be the absolute quietest but still with great cooling ability. Cost is higher though, but I think a good CPU heatsink is worth the extra.

I think i'm going to go with the TR2 M12 Designed by Thermaltake. It's a low-cost heatsink, and looks very quiet. I don't need an expensive one, and I doubt the Zalman would even fit on my motherboard, and if it did would probably be too heavy!! I'll prolly end up buying it here from Newegg as soon as it comes it stock. I'm looking online for other places that have it in stock.
