unreliable in what way? I just got my hands on them yesterday for benchmarking, we were going to start selling them with the avid and liquid 6 bundles.

They fail and I would run them, but only in raid 5.

I prefer to loose a bit of speed compared to all my data...

i would say get like 2 10000 rpm 36GB WD's instead of that 250gig.

the 250gb is his source drive, he needs speed on his render.. Using raptors for source isn't going to do anything special besides cost a lot of money.

AMD Athlon 64 FX-55
ATi Radeon x850XT
1GB G.Skill PC4400
2x36GB Western Digital Raptor Drives
300GB Seagate Barracuda Secondary Drive
DFI LAN-Party nForce4 SLI-DR

If you really wanted to go all out and still have the money left over, grab a vapochill kit and rig that up with the FX-55. That would easily rival some of the top machines on the planet.

the only difference between the fx-55 and the 64 4000 is multiplier unlocked.. Is it really worth 800$ for a processor alone? The amd 64 3200 winchester has proved that it can overclock to at least 2.4 (which is 64 4000 retail clock). I think amd is going to end up discontinuing the fx unless they drop the price to compete with the amd 64 series.
