256 meg 9800 pro's are a waste of money

You shouldnt nessacarly be looking for a 256 card. If your on a budget, an 128meg card will suffice, like a 6600GT.

On low and mid end cards, the 256 meg of memory is just to sucker people in that think the more megs, the better.

I agree. The guy said he wanted a 256mb card, though.

Try explaning stuff to him, and if he's really that dumb, but him a 9200 with 256 meg of ram and tell him it's a top end card.

Go for a 6600GT with 128 MB RAM. Speed over RAM size my friend, speed over size.

it's not always best getting more RAM. the 128MB 9800 Pro actually outperforms the 256MB version

personally I would see if I can get a 128MB Geforce 6600, since it has smartshader 3.0 and support for all DirectX 9.0c features, performs well and is not very costly against other high end video cards
