Errrrrr, by master you mean on the second IDE chanel? Not as master on the Primary with your HD?

Is your media up to the speed rating (laughing)?

My best answer is buy a new drive as that must be 3-4 years old by now (even 8X is sillly thesedays), and Nero 6 with such a slow drive? Get your spending priorites in order!!!

Hardware BEFORE software EVERYTIME.

roho, he asked for your opinion on how t fix the problem, not for you to moke him for having a slow drive. maybe he got that version of software form a a freidn or something and cant afford to buy a new drive?

We all do not have disposable incomes like you.

thank you

Point taken, Chesman.

OK, what make/model is the drive (I seem to recall that some older Phillips & HP drives have probs burning at the correct speed)?

Has Nero been set at 4X by mistake? Or are you burning CDRW's as CDR's?

Is the drive showing up as in DMA mode?

Have you disabled XP's burning software (that sometimes fixes problems)?

definitely sounds like an old burner, before the buffer under-run protection was included in all drives. i'd suggest just picking up a newer drive that has buffer protection and you'll be all set. drives are getting really cheap, so not much reason not to beg for $50 or less.
