do i have to buy a benchmarking program?

Well the one we're talking about 3dmark03, 3dmark05, aquamark and all that you CAN buy for complete functionality, but no one here does because we all just run the regular setup which is free when you download the program. When you buy it, you can try different resolutions and AA and stuff like that.

are they easy to use and what not?

i've tried pcmark 04 but i couldn't see my score for some reason.

Download it, install it, run it, that's all there is...screen pops up at the end that has your score on it for the ones I mentioned, minus aquamark, it shows you your score while still within the program. The others have a window within windows that shows it
