all Athlon 64's can lower their multipliers, they just can't raise them. when you raise your multi, you can't raise your HTT as much because your core would be much higher... and there is a limit. if you lowered your multi and raised your HTT, you would get the same core speed but faster memory access.
which is your motherboard, is it the 3rd eye or the plain ol' A8V?
