does anyone know of a good program for ripping dvds. i am going to buy a media center pc soon and and looking for a program mainly to rip dvds onto my hard drive so that i can watch them without the disk. most of them are non-copyrighted movies. if you do know of a program please also include the price.

I suggest DVD Shrink. I've been using DVD Shrink 3.2 and coupled with Nero it is a lifesaver. It allows you to modify menus, take out parts you don't want, anything. Also, very easy to use.

use intervideo DVDcopy 2 to copy it as a mpeg4 file (smalll but high quality file). you need something else to decrypt an encrypted dvd like smart ripper

Nero is not, Shrink is. However you can use a demo version of Nero. Even so, it is worth the $60 or w/e it is.

Yeah, DVD Shrink doesn't come with burning ability, it only rips the disk onto your computer. Goto "dvd.box.sk". There are a lot of other programs (freeware) that you can couple with DVD Shrink.

I just got Nero for free when I bought my computer. :)
