i'd go with WD since they seem to have better reputation

the only bad experience i had with WD was when i set the WD as master and my maxtor as slave and then i couldn't get the drives to spin after booting up that one time (burned nearly $150 worth of hard drive, not to mention my unreplaceble data and files, i'll have to take it to the comp shop tomorrow to see if it's really dead)

I have a 40GB Seagate and its quiet as and my 80GB Maxtor is loud. I havent had any problems with any HDD's...yet, so i probly cant say which is better.
I have had a few Maxtors in the last 8 years and no problems.

i have 2 wd hard drives in my comp now and they're working perfectly, really fast and quiet.

ive had two WD hd's in the past and have had nothing but trouble with them. now i only use seagate, but i guess its more a personal preference. its kinda like comparing ford with chevrolet.
